Free and open source. The Mac app needs Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. goui for the Mac covers common questions and troubleshooting.

The panel, live. Drag a point, hold A/B, or pick a Set. The spectrum and AutoEQ results are samples, not real measurements.

goui for the Mac

The same EQ, for every sound on the Mac. Not one tab, the whole output.

The goui panel open under its menu bar item, over Apple Music, with a Set picked, the Sennheiser HD 600 curve and the live spectrum.

goui lives in the menu bar. One click opens the same panel as the browser extension. It covers Music, Spotify, calls and games at once.

The headphone, ear and taste layers carry over, with Bass, Vocals and Treble. So do the AutoEQ search and the live spectrum. A native audio engine runs the EQ on the Mac. goui keeps none of the audio.

Sets carry over too. Right-click the menu bar item to switch Sets without opening the panel. goui set "name" does the same from Terminal.

It starts at login and restarts after a crash. If the sound stops, it rebuilds the audio path.

Wide panel

Widen the panel, and Listen, Tune and Library stand side by side.

The wide goui panel under its menu bar item, with Listen, Tune and Library in three columns and the Headphone tab open.

Install

One line in Terminal. No admin password. It checks the Mac and asks before installing.

Needs Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. goui is not signed by Apple yet. An engine update asks to record audio again. Read more before installing, including what happens to Spatial Audio on AirPods.

How it works

Three layers. One for the headphone, one for your ear, one for your taste.

The sound of a tab passes the headphone layer, then the ear layer, then the taste layer, then reaches you. Bass, Vocals and Treble nudge the sound on top of all three layers.

Every headphone colours the sound. AutoEQ measures that colour and writes a correction profile. That is the headphone layer.

Your hearing is your own. No profile can know it. An EQByEar test measures what your ear still wants on top of the corrected sound. That is the ear layer.

Taste is the third layer, with bands of your own. Bass, Vocals and Treble adjust the sound on top of all three layers. Each layer has its own switch.

The layers add up in dB. The preamp follows the largest boost to prevent clipping.

A Set names one preset per layer, with the sliders. Pick it on Listen and the whole sound loads at once. Editing a preset updates every Set that uses it.
